Default Is Oxygen/mapp enough? or do i need.....

More or less, Im trying to seperate my exhuast... 3 inch td slip fit, from the header. It was slip fit, and standard exhuast clamp, so its bent a tiny bit on. I have the exhuast clamps off, but i cannot seperate the slip fit. I was told oxy Aceteleyene, get it red hot, and pull it off. Well doing some reasearch i came across the benzomatic mapp/oxygen torch kit which claims can get as hot as 5300F, ive seen alot of websites say Oxy Aceteleyene gets as hot as 4900, and some say 5700. Im wondering if i can get the mapp/oxygen setup, save a little money, it seems mapp is alos safer, cheaper, and easier to get, and can get almost as hot.

Is this the best way of getting the slip fit apart? If this doesn't work, im going to cut it off past the header. I tried heating it a little with propane today, but that just wasn't enough.

Thanks in advance, Chris

3" cutting wheel; cut a slit in the overlapping piece. Wiggle around a bit.

This will be the 2nd to last option. First i want to try to heat.. Next more slits, last, will be cutting it off right after the header.

Thanks, chris

We will have to give it a try.

Thanks, Chris

For anyone wondering mapp/oxygen worked great, got the metal glowing, a little moving it up and down, and it came right off.

Thanks for the help.

mapp/oxygen will/can blow through thin metal as well as weld metal so its a great option. for all you guys beating the exhaust with hammers......i know now why my slp y pipe that came with the car is bent to hell and back and needs to be replaced. it looks like some idiot decided to go postal on it. now its caved in. kinda defeats the purpose of having it doesn't it?
