2 Post lift user's come in, lifting a F-body info needed
Was wondering where the best locations to lift a F-body with a 2 post lift.
My main concern is where to locate the car in relation to the post's.
Ie positioning the car with the lift in relation to the center of gravity.
Are you using the "A"pillar, or at the forward 1/4 of the door, center of the door etc. I think you get the idea what I am after.
Also can someone tell me where the CG centerof gravity for the f-body would be.

when i put my t/a on the lift i generally pull up forward to where the front of the door is a little past the lift, not much. you can open the door just not all the way. that way the front lift arms are a just little more than a 90 degree in relations to the lift post itself.

if your thinking about lifting on the "pinch weld" dont do it, if you look under the car the front subframe has a box frame that is about 8inches in from the front fender , on the rear use the rear box subframe where the rear side of the lca bolts up to
never lift the thing by the fender "pinch weld, allot of people see the "lift here" writing but it actually says "DO NOT lift here" then the fender is pushed out and dosnt match the door

If you catch the pinch welds correctly you shouldnt bend them or damage them at all. I work at an exhaust shop and weve been lifting fbodys for years as long as you take your time and place them correctly a 2 post wont ruin anything just my 2 cents

and why take the chance when the subframe is big and easily accesable.
althought i do lift my 68 by the pinchwelds in the back only because there realy isnt another way, but i still put the front arms under the frame just like my 95, i do my 79 under the rear pinch welds also.

those are not a pinch weld. thats were the fender bolts to the bodys. do not lift there. in the front catch the frame. depending on the lift u can eith er catch the back right in front of the control arm or on the pinch welds in front of the rear tire.
