Default Aluminum racing floor jack - Anyone?

I've seen a few of these on ebay, made by US General. All aluminum body, only 6 pumps to full height, 3000 lb capacity. They look pretty cool and are lightweight. Used ones are selling for around $75, new ones $140.

Anyone have one or used one before? Opinions?

Six pumps to full height rules

I got one, I paid $169 for it. I love it. I was a little worried about quality, but it seems fine and it beats the hell out of my old 75# floor jack.

I got mine from Harbor Freight.

Yeah I saw a few at Harbor Freight in Jersey Villiage off of 290, they're sweet. I dont know about the quality, durability, or anything else for that matter, but I plan to try them out one day. The look really modern and well designed, but I'll never know until I try one out. They had a few different styles ranging from $169 to $199, I believe. I know that you can get them from their website or catalogue for $149 right now, but I dont know what model it is. I even think they are the US General brand. Go for it and let me borrow it!

I might just be getting one of those harbor freight jacks, if anyone has figrued out how to get the free shipping or lower prices, like in the other post on this forum, please let me konw

also is 3000 lb enough to really get one of these cars up? i mean i realize you aint lifting the whole car at once but most every other jack out there is 2 tons or 2.5 tons.

3000 lbs is plenty for these cars. Thats almost enough to support the entire weight of the car. Typically, you only lift half of a car's weight since two of the tires are usually still on the ground. I haven't figured out how to get three wheels off the ground at once with a single jack

I've been thinking about getting one from Harbor Freight. It will be nice at the track and will go well with my new cordless impact

I noticed only 17-3/4" lift height. My jack is 20 inch lift and I still cant get my car high enough sometimes.

Have a ten point road race cage in your car and lift on the SFC. ALA 3 wheel ghetto motion and the car aint even moving

These are a real good jack. I have used them. And like with any tool if you dont abuse the **** out of it, it will last a while. It also has a lower profile on the front of it that makes it easier to get under lowered cars. My car has a prokit on it and I BARELY had enough room to slide my crapsman 2 ton jack under it. Now that the cage is in it It wont fit. I have to go out to the shed and get the factory POS jack that comes in the trunck, raise the car an inch and then slide the crapsman under to finish.

I'll be investing in one of these soon. Very similar to the 300+ dollar Snap on but for alot less.

these are pretty sweet jacks especially with a lowered vette.. mine works great but you have to put some muscle in it to lift he car... not as easy as the cheaper jacks due to the leverage.

when needing to jack you car higher than the height of the jack i will jack it up put stands under it then add a blocks to the jack and keep raising the stands... also for lowered cars i have 2 2x6's screwed together with a wedge cut in it and drive hte car onto it which gives me higher clearance for those not so low jacks...

Hrmm... I don't like the looks of the broken saddle on that aluminum jack in the "jack shootout" link above.

Yah I would definately not use one of those racing jacks for general purpose use. The thing about those other than them breaking if you lift improperly. Is that yah 6 pumps to full height is nice. But the thing is that it comes down just as fast. It will drop from full height in less than a second and they are very hard to control on the way down. I have one of the jacks in the shootout the AC Hydraulics DK20 it is a SWEET jack I absolutely LOVE it. I would highly recommend one to anyone. Although it's a bit pricey it has a lifetime warranty and is fully rebuildable.

My experience with several harbor freight jacks is that they all leak in a pretty short amount of time, requiring new seals, which will leak again because of the relatively low quality of the cylinder bore.
