Default Broke 13mm and 15mm KOBALT Ratchet Wrenches

I was taking out my rear last night and broke the gears in the rachet wrenches. Probably my fault because I broke 1 holding a nut and put the impact on the other end. Hit the other one with a hammer while it was on a bolt. I really wanted to see how good they are because Im taking the 2 back for replacement in a minute. Just thought Id let yall know that they can't stand a impact wrench or a blow with a hammer.

They can't stand that because they aren't designed to stand that. No wonder you broke them.

But FWIW, I've given my gear wrenches hell for almost 10 yrs and never had one break. My 15mm has had the **** beat out of it.

I have gear wrenches and there's no way mine would stand up to that.

I *only* use them on bolts that are already busted loose. Never to do the actual busting.

Both ends of my Gear Wrenches are pretty soft. The ratchet end, and the open end. It's a fairly thin wrench, so I don't trust much torque on it.

haha i cant believe you tried that. were you just testing for durability or did you not expect them to break? I'm not laughing at you, Ive done much dumber things as have we all, but that is funny.

We have several sets of the Craftsman gear wrenches that are reversible and they are indestructible. We have yet to see one break and we use them to tighten and break loose bolts all the time, including hitting them with hammers etc. One of my favorite tools in the toolbox.

I have a set of the Blue Point ratchet wrenches "Made in Taiwan" and they are much stronger than the Kobalt. The reason I bought the Blue Point is because I thought they were Made in the USA. There stronger than the Kobalt. Ive had these for about 6 years.
