Default Replacing shocks on a 2001 Silverado... question + tool

Ok guys, need a little help here. I'm about to replace the shocks on my 2001 Silverado - 2WD.

I know for the rear shocks, I basically unbolt the old ones and put the new ones on.... fairly easy.

For the front ones, the shock is inside the coil spring. So I'm pretty sure I need a coil spring compressor.

I was thinking about getting one of these (see link below), rather than renting one. I know I'll use it several times in my lifetime... so I figure why not!

Which one should I get? I don't understand what the differences are.

Are you sure its a coil spring? I though that they were torsion bars...

If Its Two Wheel Drive It Has Front Coils And You Dont Need A Sring Compressor Just Unbolt The Bottom Of The Shock From Lower Control Arms And Unbolt Top...may Need A Torch To Cut Them....then Just Pull Them Out From The Bottom....unless It Has A Strut.....if Its A Strut Thats A Whole Different Thing And You Will Need A Strut Compressor Or Sring Compressor

If your truck is anything like my 94 2wd Silverado, you won't need to worry about the coil spring. IIRC, the shock came out the bottom of the LCA.

As said above, on 2wd models you just unbolt the shock from the top and the bottom and drop it right out.
