Is their an electric impact one can used instead of an air?

Friend was telling me there an 24volt impact one can use just like air impact w/compressor? Is he right? Anyone used one? Where can I find one? Is it cheaper than buying air impact and a compressor?

He said it was strong enough to torque lug nuts.

Thanks

They make electric impacts some are 110 some are battery powered. At work we use a a corded one that runs on 110. It has no problem taking off the lug nuts witch are torqued to 140 ft lbs. when we put them back on we do check it with a torqe wrench just for liability reasons. (Really dont want wheels falling off an ambulance) Ours is made by black and decker it wsa about 120 and will do most anything, the only problem i ever had wit it was trying to take off axle nuts on fwd cars. One of the guys i work with has a snap on battery powered one and he uses it alot and has no problems with it, I belive it was 240. As far as it being cheaper then a compressor and and a impact. Yes it problally is, If all you plan on using it for is taking tires off then you will be alright, but if you want to use it on other things they are very long and dont fit in most places. Also with an air compressor you can use air ratchets, die grinders air chisels, cut off wheels, fill your tires, use bow guns ect. The only other problem I ever hadwith the electric gun was i tired to use it with a ball joint press and it wouldnt pop the bj.
just my .02 Ivote air its more versitile

Didn't think about all the other stuff an air compressor could be used for. I'd use it on wheels but I'd also want to use it on suspension stuff etc. Didn't think about the extra bulk with the battery pack.

Thanks for the comments.

I have a Craftsman (or is it Black and Decker?) 110 corded impact. I do not have a garage, so air tools it out of the question. I just bust this puppy out, and it will take anything off. Rusted and seized exhaust studs, red loctited suspension parts, anything. There hasn't been a single thing I couldn't get off with it.

It's relatively chunky though. About twice the size of an air impact. It's only a problem once in a while. I have a wobble universal and extensions that ease the pain. But seriously, it's the best tool I've got. I don't even know how I lived before it. I've had it 2 years ,and it has seen every category of water, dirt, oil - been dropped, stepped on, etc, and it still goes fine. I can't praise it enough.

If I had a garage, air tools would be a no brainer, just because of all the extra things you can run with it.

I just bought the Craftsman 18v cordless impact. 180Ft-Lbs of torque, 2000 blows a minute. $300 bucks. Should work really good.

I have that 3/8" driver too. I go into withdrawls if I dont have it. No air hoses to drag through my interior, and it works for almost anything
