Heavy isn't it. I took mine down a flight of stairs, by myself! Just about didn't get it down there. Nice compressor. Hey since it's Craftsman will they replace it free when it breaks?

I think that lifetime warranty only applies to hand tools, not power tools. I think there is a 1 year warranty on power/air/etc.. tools.

Alex, these are the ones

Yep, it applies ONLY to hand tools. That does NOT include Torque Wrenches either as they are a precision tool that requires calibration every so often.

Drill bits, bolt extractors, and tap and die sets are not warranted either. I can see drill bits. But I think a tap and die set should be warranted...you really don't wear those out.

I bought a larger Craftsman Ball Bearing setup a couple years ago when it came out. My problem now is that besides a) Ive run out of room, b) the drawers are difficult to get to stay closed. I open one and because the set isnt %100.0000 level, several other drawers start drifting open. I shut those and others start sliding open. Its like a bad "whack a mole". THe newer Craftsman ball-bearing stuff has a latching handle, and that looks like it would be highly superior. So I need something a) bigger and b) good at staying closed.

Good looking setup! I run my air tools at 120-140 psi though, so I like the dual stage setups. Someday I'll pickup a much larger one.

tools RULE!!!

btw.... The big BIG deal to me right now is...

LIGHTING. I htink everyone should start sharing their lighting setups.

I use dual metal-halide 10k 300w lamps so that the light is good light (not some anemic sick yellow) and the duals help the shadows. THeres a set of backup 4 4' garden light flourescents.

I call the MH's "My two suns". I love them.

I took back a ratcheting tap handle (I have 8 of them) to Sears the other day. The reversing lever had broken (a weak link on this design). The manager told me they were no longer warrantied, along with other tap and die tools. I showed him in their newest catalogue where it clearly stated "warrantied." He said he was sorry, and got me a new one. I have taken back many punches and chisels and they have warrantied evvery one of them. To me, they shouldn't be warrantied, but who am I to complain?

I usually had problems with taps breaking....usually in a chuck of .120 aluminum that was the dash of an airplane. I broke a few of my 6-32 taps in dashboards....even with cutting oil. They won't warranty those....(they were industrial taps....not sears).

That's a nice entry level box. But it is an upgrade from your old one that fit in the back of the car. LOL

Small taps in tough material with too tight a hole
and too little lube are right easy to snap off.
Especially if you don't pull it back out often
enough.

(Cue Beavis & Butthead)

Plenty of broken ones in my tap & die box. The
only reason I kee 'em is, you can grind the broken
end flat and get a usable "bottoming tap" for
chasing blind bolt holes with.

I got one of the 'grip latch' professional units. its a top chest alone. the idea onit is nice, but on mine you have to be right in the middle to get it to pull open, the deaper heavy drawers open a little better, but oh well.
Its not like it takes much time to move over to the center....

Are those chests the Friction, Ball Bearing or Professional model?

There are a lot of boxes made by the same company and sold by different firms. I'm pretty sure the Waterloo and Craftsman boxes are similar, I believe Snap On and Mac have their boxes made on the outside, Matco makes their own (supposedly), etc etc. However the same company that makes Craftsman tools makes Matco hand tools, and they are very similar. Mac tools are all made by Stanley, and again aren't much better IMO. Snap On makes most of their own tools, at least ratchets/sockets/extensions/wrenches etc.

Surprisingly enough, I went by yesterday to look at tools and yes, they are the friction. I picked up the $99 workbench, the rollaway cart, and I had to special order a toolbox

Anyway, it's a pretty sweet deal, but for the record... they don't fit inside an F-body
