Default engine building tools-online?

Does anyone know of any specific places that sell decent engine building tools online? I'm looking for places that have more of a selection besides summit or Jegs. but won't break the bank like snap on or mac. Throw up some links if anyone knows of some places.

Your local auto parts store should have a tool section. There you'll find most of what you need to build a motor. Otherwise a good torque wrench and set of 6-sided sockets are all you need.

Unless you plan on just slapping together a bunch of parts, you're going to need A LOT more than a torque wrench and a set of sockets....lol

I have found the following vendor to be a good source for hard-core tools:

http://www.precisionmeasure.com/

Occasionally, I troll through Ebay Automotive Parts and Accessories and I've picked up some good values there as well.

Just because you can BOLT it all together, doesn't mean it's built correctly

There's a lot of measuring, bearing clearance checking, block deburring, sonic checking, magnafluxing, rod bolt stretch measurements, etc. etc. etc. etc. that goes into a GOOD "blueprinted" motor build. It's all up to whether you want a motor simply bolted together into a single chunk of bits, or you want a motor assembled knowing it's built properly.

he's right, yeah you start throwing it together and getting bearing clearances wrong and having oil pressure issues and your gonna wish you would have just paid a machine shop to assemble it. i promise it will be money well spent

www.thetoolwarehouse.net

thats where I used to buy stuff if it wasn't off the tool truck

however, when it comes to lower end assembly, I plead with customers, just let a machine shop do it. Even if its not ours.
Everything on the block is based around the main journal bore, nobody has a line hone in their garage, so their no proper assembly done without this.

^^^ LMAO!! I had an instructor tell me once he could tear down and rebuild an engine with a pair of vice grips and a screw driver if he had to, but he wouldn't want it to be his engine.
