The scissor jack is a decent value. It's kind of flimsy but if you're not a pro trani swapper it'll do the trick.

Mine buckled a lil bit under my 4L80 but still works OK.

I would agree. Next best thing to a real lift.

I've worked on several cars with it and it makes life easy.

the scissor type did ok with my 60. i noticed that i couldnt ratchet the strap tight bc of its enormous size along with the fact that it was too close to the floorboard. i also noticed the metal pad for the tranny to sit on is very slick without the tranny pulled down to it. luckily i had hilton there to catch it before it hit the concrete. his hand hurt for the rest of the weekend im sure.

i have had this jack for over a year now, little scary at the top, but it is ok

has anyone come up with a better system for tilting the trans back? the wing nuts are junk, and you cannot really adjust it once you lift it.

also another issue i have is, once i get a trans into place, the ratchet seems to always be stuck in the tunnel

It was 1 years ago. I still use and still good condition/shape>>

I made order Arcan XL35 (#144236) 3-1/2 ton and can liftup ~20" & 1 yr warranty thru NorthernTool.com. It costs me 149.99 plus s/h $59 to my "business garage"= ~ $227.
I had been researched on floor jack thru few forums/consumer reports/others. I hope so, I made choose the best jack lif-up>> Arcan XL35.

I cut the lower mount off on the ratchet side and made a small extension down, then welded the ratchet bracket to that. That way it clears the tunnel.

I'm all for spending money on GOOD tools. But the $$$$ starts to add up real quick and prevents me from buying go fast goodies.

I would spend the coin on a name brand jack if I was a mechanic, but I'm not. Just a hobbyist. Harbor freight stuff works for what I need, and the frequency that I use it.

I have used it several times and have loaned it to friends. Still no problems what so ever.

Exactly right! Same with Snap-On....air tools are made in China (says right on the box lol). Granted, HF stuff is often one-time-use stuff, but all of it has a warranty. Also, for those that are all keen on Craftsman sockets, etc....just buy HF impact sockets, and you'll still be money ahead. Yeah, it sucks to be buying so much foreign stuff, but when the USA equivalent is still made "over there"..but for 2x the price, why bother? Case in point...I bought a Ramsond Plasma/Tig/Arc machine for $700.00 last year. Guess what? It cuts better than my friends Hypertherm plasma AND has a tig function! Would I use it in a "production" environment...hell no! But, for the price and abilities, it suits me fine. Too bad that the "American-made" brands don't make comparably-priced and equipped units for the do-it-yourself folks. Not everyone needs commercial-grade stuff. They are missing out on a huge market.

Default Trans Jack

Some of the stuff I've bought from HF has been ok, yet other stuff, not. But for the weekend warrior, prolly ok.

I bought a used trans jack, naturally made in China. The Jack was leaking down. I contacted many hydraulic repair shops and they said the Chinese jacks are usually throw aways. Did a search online and found http://www.usjack.com/

Got a replacement jack from usjack for $ 20 more then what Grainger wanted for a chinese made jack ! I had to make a mount for it but works great for dropping trannys.

Makes me sick also when I go into Sears and see many things made in China. I try to buy USA made, but anymore it's almost impossible for certain things.
