Default Harbor Freight Trans Jack

Whats up. Has anyone bought Harbor Freights scissor type trans jack? How long did the shipping take and how did it work? Is it worth waiting for?

I just removed my trans using it and it's a great tool!

Check around to see if one is local to you. Right now it says on their website it is $86.99 but I went to the Harbor Freight store that is about 15 minutes from my house and and it was $59.99.

be very cautious of anything bought at Harbor Freight! Save your money and buy quality, Craftsman, etc. I will no longer (and for a long time now) patronize HF because IMMHO it is junk!

Ha, maybe if I was changing transmissions 5 times a week I would have spent the money on a Craftsman jack....but for a one time change...this $62 cheapo Harbor Freight jack was perfect, and I plan on turning around and selling it to try and get a little bit of my money back.

i have one of these as well, its your typical harbor freight tool. I still have mine after a few years but its defintally not in the same condition as i bought it. Most of the flanges are bent and such.

But overall i'm fine with it for what it is, it was cheap and well thats what i got. If you are looking for something that will move the tranny up and down then sure its fine. But dont expect it to be a sturdy well made piece.

So i guess in the end the best way to say it is well its a harbor freight tool i'm sure you can figure out how it is haha.

some of their stuff is great(grinders, saw)had these for over a year no problems. worked better then craftmans high *** over priced stuff. went through 2 craftmans floor jack and they wont refund them.

their jackstands are great over 3 years still running strong.

for wrenches and such hand tools ya craftmans all the way

I've used mine three times and it works pretty much as advertised. Get a 1/2" U joint and a 1/2" speeder wrench, makes using it a lot easier.

Bought one over a year ago, and used it to drop the rear cradle/trans/rear-end/torque tube out of my c5 a couple of times with no problems, and done several other trans swaps with it. I'd say there worth the money.

I had one, worked great.

Did the trans in the RX7 with it no problems.

Now that I have the hoist in the garage I need a bigger one though, is the tall bottle jack one that someone on here bought decent?

I'm doing the trans in the Audi which you take out with the transfer case so its a bit tail heavy.

I don't mind cheap tools but I don't need a 250lb trans and transfer case tipping over on me 5 ft in the air.

I also bought the 800lb hydraulic trans jack from HF for like $90 and it was a piece of cake. It worked just fine and got the tranny out no with no problems.
