Default Updated Classifieds!

We are planning on updating the classifieds on LS1tech

The intent of this is to help make the classifieds easier for you to find parts/vehicles.
We will maintain the forums as they are currently, however you will find two search boxes that will appear next to the threads.
One for searching for Cars, the other for searching for parts.

How will this affect using the classifieds for you?
Not at all – all existing classified rules will not change (and we ask that you still adhere to them!), it is just that hopefully we can help you find (or sell) the part/car you are looking for in a much easier fashion.
The forum layout, or existing forums that exist for classifieds should not change either.

Will these searching options be available for existing classified threads?
No. All existing classifieds will exist and be searchable as they are today. All newly created classifieds will be searchable via this format.

Feedback?
You are welcome to provide feedback in this thread on the classifieds so we can make changes to its configuration.
We appreciate all feedback, and we will try to incorporate as much of it as we can into future development and respond to your requests.

Searching for vehicles
When searching for a vehicle, we will scour the following mediums to find the vehicle you are looking for.
  1. Threads on the site
  2. Local dealerships
  3. eBay

You will have the option to search for
  • Year
  • Make
  • Model
  • Price
  • Mileage
  • Location (State)
  • Color
  • Transmission
  • Drivetrain
  • Color
  • Engine
This should enable you to find the exact vehicle you are looking for much quicker. You can also still use our standard search option after filtering too.
(We will attempt to narrow down options from local dealerships and eBay as best we can using these items too)

Searching for parts
In addition to searching this site, we will search eBay as well to try to find parts for you.
You will be able to filter for the following:
  • Category (engine part etc.)
  • Price:
  • Location (State):
  • Item Condition: (New/Used)
  • Shipping Information: (Can it be shipped?)
  • Engine: (What type of engine does it fit?)
  • Part fits: (What type of vehicle does it fit?)

Want to share a set of results?
You can copy the URL of the results and this will only show vehicles with the limitations you have been searching for - manual transmission, in white that are newer than 2004 for example

When are you planning on doing this?
Next Tues (01/12/10)

Hopefully you will find this helpful using LS1tech, we think it should help!
Adrian

I really like it!!!...but will the searching Ebay hurt us as sponsers?

I kind of like that the search feature only works for this site...well, when it works.

Looking forward to Tuesday!

Eh, I hope it doesn't end up cluttering up my searches with a bunch of results I'm not interested in. I have found the old system to work quite well. If I was interested in buying parts off ebay I would just go there.

Is there an option to just show results from member posts?

Looks like another way for IB to sqeeze addvertising onto the site. gotta be carful or people will lose intrest in this place if it get clogged up with adds. If i wanted to search ebay and dealerships for cars I would goto autotrader or ebay's site.

To my knowledge, the forum search results will still only be from this site just like it is now. It simply adds similar ebay results and dealer listings for your comparison, etc. It does not include those listings in with the main forum search results, it simply displays them above and below the forum you are using. The screen shot above CLEARLY shows this.

This should help organize the classifieds, force people to add all the info to their ad that everyone needs anyway, and greatly help when searching for specific items or vehicles.

Let's all at least try it before complaining about what it "might" be. Fair enough?

Is there anyway you can incorporate the location of the sellers ? to make it easier to locate parts around your area or make it easier to see how much shipping will be.

I like the added search options but best part about the old classifieds were the LSX and Non-LSX sections. There is such a variety of cars for sale on this site combining them all into one forum makes it very jumbled compared to the two seperate forums.

Also, it would be nice if we could include more than one state in a search and if there was an any color or any trans option. If I want a manual car and don't care about the color this gets problematic.

Yeah, needs to be divided into LSx and non-LSx sections. Seems to me like trying to squeeze too much info on a page. It was easy enough to use the search this forum button before.

I will create links that will allow you to browse just LSX items, and non-LSX items

Well said + another 1 ....To much clutter, need to seperate the sections LSX/NON LSX. I never had a problem with the old search. I dont like the way the member ads a squeezed together because the search is on the side. Is there a way to put the search on top?
