Ls1 tech smart phone app
#2
There is already a smartphone based forum app called tapatalk. It is very easy to get the app installed on any website running vB. The app costs like $3.99 on the android market I believe and I don't know what on the apple platform. Very user friendly and mobile supported

I also agree with Tapatalk. I use it for multiple other forums and the ease of use, the updates address any issues with the app, and i recommend it for any forum. I really wish LS1Tech would go this route. I know i would post MUCH more if they had this
I know it was an issue back in the previous years stating they didn't want people to have to pay, and i agree that it does suck a little, but its a one time fee for 2.99 (Iphone) and for an additional $0.99, you can upload photos directly from your smartphone. You can easily keep track of all your forums that are using tapatalk, and it makes interacting on a smart phone more appealing than interacting on a PC for people who are rarely around a PC (like me for example)
Although it is a small fee for each member deciding to use it, it is well worth the investment. I use it multiple times a day, and by far the 1 app i use the most

So, I'm assuming since I just tried searching everywhere for it, it doesn't exist...
Tapatalk would be the best bet. I use that and the Autoguide app on my iPhone, everyday. It would be perfect for this forum!

Tapatalk has been mentioned several times but the answer has been "no" for various reasons stated (security concerns for LS1Tech with a 3rd party application, cost for members to do anything but read, etc.).
There's a mobile skin offered for mobile devices that don't have the processing power or bandwidth, while other mobile devices (iPad, etc.) have appeared to do pretty well with the full (non-mobile) version.

The phone skin for this website is horrible. I rarely even post on here much anymore because it sucks so bad. Don't understand why every other forum out there uses Tapatalk but tech refuses to. And the security risk answer is such bs.
Sorry I'm so blunt, but this forum's mobile skin is ridiculous.

I'd quote the above, but again this mobile version won't let me.
If the argument is not wanting members to have to pay for an app, fine. Leave the current crappy mobile skin on here. But at least add Tapatalk as an option for those of us living in 2012.
