Default The new mobile version sucks...

The home page no longer showd private messages and reading threads in general they are all skinny and a pain to navigate. Also pictures no longer show up unless you open a file for every one of them.

I don't like it either. When I click on a thread it takes me to the very bottom of the page so I have to scroll up. Lame.

I'm used to changes in the boards I visit, but this current mobile version isn't very good. Hopefully an update comes out soon.

At least the front page font is now black. I can read that now. The old blue was terrible.

It's not just taking you to the end of the thread but it's actually taking you to the first unread post in the thread. If you've read all posts in the thread, then you will be directed to the bottom of the thread as there isn't new content to read in the thread.

This is a feature in the full (desktop) version when you click on the by saving you time by redirecting your browser to the first unread post in the thread. It saves you scrolling.

In the normal version it's optional because you can simply click on the thread title and get the first post of the thread. In the mobile theme it's not optional (at this time) as clicking on the thread title directs your browser to the first unread post in the thread.

Basically, in the mobile theme, it's joining the "getnew" function (which directs your browser to the first unread post in the thread) with the thread title while the desktop version has those two separated.

This is something that can be easily changed, code wise, but will depend on feedback.

Thanks for the response. Strange how it's working though, these are threads I have never even looked at before and it is putting me to the bottom of the page.

EDIT: I just clicked on some threads I know I have never been in. Some take me to the middle of the page, some take me to the bottom, and some actually work right. Pretty annoying.

You don't actually have to have read a thread for it to be marked as read with no new content (would direct your browser to the end of the thread).

Example:
You visit the forum around 10:00AM, read some posts every few minutes, and then become inactive around 10:30AM. You then visit again around 2:00PM. All posts that were made before 10:30AM will show as "read" to you - even if you actually didn't read them.

That's how the system has worked for years and is part of the read/unread status feature.

You may not have ever noticed this unless you used the link in the normal themes, or unless you looked at the read/unread status icons for each posts.

So what you describe is actually normal and is actually part of a core function that has existed in the vBulletin forum by directing your browser to the first unread post in a thread. Normally, you'd have to click on the icon in the desktop theme to see this. In the Mobile theme, that icon is tied to the thread title links and is why the behavior exists.

As I said, this is an easy change for us to make if that is what is decided.

I can certainly understand the function on the non-mobile site, as I use that daily. However, on the mobile site, if I click into a thread that I have not read or ever been a part of, I would like to be directed to the top of the page starting with the first page.

The old mobile version was not like this...

I understand your preference. But the core logic of the "getnew" function has you directed to the end of the thread as everything is considered "read" as the content is older than your last visit and so the logic is there is nothing new for you to read. Unfortunately, that specific behavior can't really be changed easily.

What could be changed is simply removing the feature from the mobile theme, or having that feature optional next to the thread title (like it is the desktop theme) so that the member can decide if they want to use the "getnew" function and its behavior or not.

You can still use the old mobile version.

At the top choose the option to take you to the normal website.

Then scroll all the way to the bottom and where you can choose the website layout there are 2 mobile options:

---LS1Tech Mobile

and right under that:

Mobile Theme

Choosing the second one will switch to the old setup.

I agree, the old mobile theme was much easier to use, displayed information better, and looked all together more professional and "thought through" than this ad hoc new mobile theme. Hopefully we are heard. Bring back the old mobile theme.
