Why in the hell can you only search once every 30 seconds? What is the logic behind that?

It decreases the flood interval. With many users, in theory, and as many as a few hundred or a few thousand doing searches or browsing, it decreases the load on the server. Several hundred people running a search at the same time will bring a database to its knees. Trust me...

Its really the processor that gets brought to its knees. But yes, it is a resource issue. Especially if the database isnt indexed correctly or using true 3rd normal form.

Its for the best.

Exactly. For those who don't know what a D.O.S. attack is; it stands for Denial of Service attack. Nastly hacking tool to shut down a server. Basically it kind of like when someone constantly calls your house and you're forced to just take the phone off the hook. Only on a server, it can cause the system to crash.
Believe me. A must have feature. About 5 years ago this happed to AOL. Messed it up for about 2 weeks.

No doubt Brains is a smart cookie. However, most BB (bulletin board) database applications have this set as default. You can disable it or change the time function.

This sceneio also applies to a flooding in general. Just a DOS is a Malicious verion of it. Multiple people trying to access and search for the right intentions can do the same thing. Computers don't really have call waiting. More like a sex slave at your every beck and call.

This is the reason behind the 30 sec delay. What I found funny is when I editted the post for the better explanation, the server came back as busy?!!
