Default A little help from anyone who knows what I'm talking about

This has nothing to do with this site... so feel free to move it, but I figured the guys in here could prob answer it and I don't know where else to ask...

I'm working on a HVAC system and the controls have been connected through an ethernet connection so we can adjust the set points from my office... I was given the "static and dynamic IP address" and told to access them using those... I can't get the IT guy on the phone and need to know how the hell I can do that... should I be able to access the router on site using just the two IP addresses or do I need something else... like software.... etc to do this. Just need to know if I'm the problem because I don't know how or if I'm missing a peice of the puzzle?

I tried... but I needed an answer relatively quick and I wasn't even sure what section it belonged in.... It had zero reads so after an hour or so I deleted it. maybe I should have titled it "Look naked chicks!" Then I prob would have gotten some responses over there

Yes, it's an 18,000 sq/ft vacation home... in total it has almost 40 zones of heating/cooling and in multiple stages.... along with humidification. The system allows us to control the entire system remotely from our office. And if there is a problem, the engineers in michigan can access it and we can web confrence about any possible problems while talking to the full time caretaker on site to verify that our inputs are physically happening. A little elaborate for a ski house... it's a system normally used in larger commercial applications... but if a homeowner wants to pay for it I guess it provides peace of mind.

i hear ya. web based interfaces are getting more and more popular with the expansion of IP-enabled appliances. even a lot of the higher level networking equipment i deal with these days is moving to a WBI(web based interface). as long as they still provide a CLI(command line interface) for when things get really hosed up i'm still happy.

glad you got it figured out
