Default LS1Tech Wiki?

I don't know if it's been suggested before, but it sounds like a good idea. It would help prevent some of the re-posts that occur every other month and it would allow us to archive some of the best tech info that this site has accumulated over time. No more sticking a post full of links to other threads, no more saying "TRY A SEARCH". Just look on the Wiki!

I actually installed and configured one a while back, but it never took off with the staff. Lazy f'kers

Lets see how well the community can show up the staff For those of you who aren't familiar with a wiki, don't feel hesitant to mess around -- you can't hurt or destroy anything permanently, and even if you accidentally delete a whole article it is very easy to get it back yourself (by using the "history" link at the top of every page).

The user accounts are not linked to the wiki (yet) because I didn't want to spend the time if it didn't take off. But, if (when?) it does take off I am pretty certain I can hack up the code to merge the userbase with your LS1Tech screen name. To make that feasible, just make sure the username and email address you register over there matches what you use here.

To learn about how to use a wiki, look here: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:FAQ
To learn about how to make articles look the way you want to, you'll need to learn WikiText. At first glance it isn't very intuitive, but after a couple articles it is actually very easy. Here's those details: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Editing

Create pages - it doesn't matter how much or little information you have, because the beauty of a wiki is community. What you may not know, someone else will - and they can add to what you started. But it all starts with you! Search for something, and if you don't find an article on it, create one and share what you know! Make it as plain or as fancy as you like, the key is getting the brains (har har) on the page.

And finally, the most important link of them all: http://wiki.ls1tech.com

Awesome! There should be a forum-wide sticky on this if it's to be given a fair trial run!

Yah know, I've been thinking about this for almost a year now... but I figured no one else would see the point too having it!

I vote for an announcement to ask knowedgable members to contribute entries on vehicle statistics/history, technical definitions, automotive techniques (driving/modifying), ect...

It would be nice for LS1tech to have the world's greatest automotive wiki (just a thought)...

Edit: Just made a new page, its really simple... took me about 2-mins to figure it out (and I didn't read any of the directions).

I started a page on detailing. Since detailing is not LS1-specific, I'll tie in some certain detailing points for our cars including factory orange peel, the sail panel glue problem, how to take care of the t-top divider piece on our roof, etc.

I like the idea, but instead of people saying search, they are gonna say check the wiki.

Whenever relevant, we can link the wiki and make it really easy on folks. Very cool stuff.

Very cool brains... why dont you just put a tab for it at the top of the page, people would figure it out pretty quick.

It's a fair amount of work to do that, so I'd rather not spend the time if it won't ultimately pay off. Just register your existing name over there so in the event the community embraces it, I can link it up at that time. Registration takes literally seconds.

Uhm, the arrows on that camshaft cycle picture are rotating backwards. Can someone fix this?
