Availability, design of the C4 was a much more suited for the F-body frame, and the C4 rear is far lighter than the cobras! It may have also worked but would have taken more fabrication and had a lot more unsprung weight which I didn't want and which is not optimal. The C4 IRS was made nearly all made of aluminum while the cobra was heave tubular steel. Granted the double A arms would be better when replaced with adjustables but the added weight was very unnecessary. There were also several other reasons though which I can go into further if you'd like.
