Default startup car= no oil pressure

The other night it was about 50-60* outside... started the car up for about two min moved it looked down and had no oil pressure... stopped the car checked oil level was fine... so i think bad sensor... go back in the car start it hold the rpm's at 1500 for about ten seconds... suddenly the needle shoots my oil pressure to normal... i'm stumped hasn't happened again which i'm glad about but am worrying about what it could have been i don't wanna take it out one day and have no oil pressure, not notice and be down an engine... usually how many miles do oil pumps get before they go bad... i thought it could have been a clog in the pump that got sucked up with the higher pressure from the rpm's but am... any input would be great by the way have new oil and filter to change it out tomorrow any tips on what to look for, for further diagnosis

it reads the oil pressure mechanically and converts it to an electric signal that gets sent to the gauge

Sounds like a bad sensor but for sure change the oil.If you can cut the filter open with a set of good clippers, then cut part of the paper out and extend it out and look for any metal in the filter.
