Does Autozone rent them out? THey are fairly cheap. Check out Harbor Freight if you have one nearby.

Cool, I'm going to try and use a scanner today and see what I can get from it. I don't know it's capabilities yet. If that gives nothing I'll end up doing a compression test.

hey what up fellas...this is a newbie question, but i was wondering how do you give a motor a compression test. i have never done it ( also know very little about) and i want to know cuz right now i am lookin for an engine for my 93 lude and im looking to buy from private owner/party. Please advice thanks.

You remove the spark plugs and screw in the compression gauge into each spark plug hole while rotating the motor over a few times and recording the compression that it reaches. Each car's ideal range is different, but you want all of the cylinders to be consistent.

I think so, I still dont even know how to use all the features. It's a $700 scan reader/clearer for me right now. My first editing will be when I change the gears to 3.42 and update the PCM to reflect the hear change.

It is the pro model and does have a module on the cable that does some real time logging (I think).
