99 fuel pump in a 95?
The two pumps appear to be different. The 99 pump has a small hose that runs to a bottom filter which the 95 pump does not have. Do i need to get a 95 pump or is there a way to modify the 99 one to work? Do i even need that hose?
here is a pic showing the small dark brown tube on the 99 that the 95 pump does not have.

I would "think" you could find a way to make it work, not sure though. You'd have to find out if that hose is just a breather or something that can be routed somewhere. If you are doing the trap door method, then I would say you could experient if you really wanted to. If you are dropping the tank, then don't waste your time and get the right pump. Don't want to do that twice!

Read that, and click where it says "the factory pump...". That little tube is the venturi feed tube which helps keep the bucket filled with fuel, so I'd say it's important.
Here is the tube you are talking about:

If you were totally in a pinch and had to run the pump, it should work, but if you ever ran low, the bucket could run dry (it would run dry sooner without the tube) and you can burn out the pump.

Cool, and with the trap door, you can always throw in a Walbro 255 later down the road.
