So why are you going to Breck? Boarding/Skiing?

My Sister lives out there. I almost moved to CO three times in the last 20 years. I love it out there.

Funny thing is 5 yrs back we flew out there for xmas/new years/snowboarding. The airline gave us **** for taking so many snowboards (family of 5) and tried to charge us $100 per board surcharge. I ended up taking the bindings and putting them in one of the suit cases and putting all the boards (now flat) in one board bag. the lady at the counter said I couldnt do that. anyway I finally got them all on board.

So when we drove out in the summer I thought "hey, I could do this in the winter"

Last year, I took my son and daughter with me for xmas/New Year. Xmas morning I get to Ontario airport and all flights from SoCal to CO are cancelled. They shuttle me to John Wayne because there is still one flight that hasnt been cancelled. we take off late from John Wayne. get in around 10 PM, get our bags around midnight. drive from Denver to COS in 3 hours because of the storm. That trip ended up take like 18 hours. I was like, damn, we should have drove!

I really want to know how Lee does.

BTW, Lee if you do get stuck and sleep in your car, keep your windows cracked. You dont want to be like those chicks in Squaw valley that slept in their car with the heater on and never woke up because the snow covered up their exhaust and they died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

yeah, we came back via the 25/40. But the way up was via 15/70.

The New Mexico route seems much faster, but there are a lot more cops on the road

Oh, I did. I left Friday morning at around 8:30 and got to Breckenridge a couple hours ago. Slept here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...39868&t=h&z=15
It was cold.
Woke up in the morning and found a layer of frost on the car.
Tooled around on ranch roads a little off the 70 and then when it got boring I went a little faster.

Sorry man, I ain't looking for work here... I might even end up working at your current place if I can't find a job elsewhere... LOL...

^ Check out the road trip pics thread for pics in the future. ^

Looks like I'll be taking the 70 to the 25 to try and dodge the real bad weather... Should I powerwash the underside of my car?

Yes I believe up that way untill you get into breck or vale or any higher end areas they use sand/salt mixture around the colorado springs they were using a synthetic or something salt replacement with sand but it still can cause you issues, I say do it to be safe.

Hahaha I have a friend back there that was like hey you could always move back here. I am half contemplating it. Get out there but damn I would have to make more than I am now to live just perfect and comfortable.

Great minds think alike... damn looking at the price of apartments in the springs man I wish I could get a job out there paying me a little more than what I get now, I would move in a heart beat and buy some beater 87 or 88 toyota hilux pickup, those are awesome in the snow... ohh well.
