Default Full exhaust in Cali

What exhaust setups do you guys in CA have? Due to the retarded regulations I'm at loss as how to plan out my setup.

keep your stock y-pipe, exhaust manifolds (if you have LT's). if you get caught or if its time for smog put your stock stuff back on. or you can find yourself a good smog shop . its cheaper to keep your stock stuff

Do you think I would be alright getting it smogged with LTs as long as I pass the sniffer?

pacesetter offroad long tubes, pacesetter offroad y-pipe, tsp rumbler y-back.

you wont pass the sniffer. even with cats installed they are much further from the engine with LTs and therefore are not hot enough to really do anything.

i wouldnt mod a car in cali with smog in mind. mod it how you want and worry about it later. otherwise dont bother.

That's the exact setup I was thinking of going with... just it would be real nice if I could pass the damned sniffer.

Yeah they have it right, do what you want and save all parts. Do the old switch-a-roo.

I have shorties, stock cats and slightly bigger Y-pipe. My set up is not worth the money. Gains are minimal. I would go LT's and ORY and just drive nice around cops and pay for smog later. But of course you might want to get in close with someone who can help you before you go that route.

They do this to see something that they know nothing about. I was asked one time if I was running nos, lol. Then he asked if I had a cone filter, haha. I told him my car came from the factory with the exhaust and that I could prove it with the window sticker, so he just let me go.

No they re-instated the ref stations a couple weeks after they closed them if I remember correctly.

Man just go for it. It will be well worth it. Cops won't bother you as far as noise for the simple fact that these cars have v8's. Just drive cool around them.

one night i left a light at maybe quarter throttle shifting at 2500 rpm, not even that loud. but it was right as a cop pulled out of a gas station right behind me and followed me for about 2 miles. even followed me to the taco bell then finally took off.

thats the closest call for me since i installed my setup. i fear the day i get pulled over for whatever reason and they start to question my car.

^ true.. 2 of my friends got state ref' last month... as far as him popping my hood he asked me about a intake ... i told him its a slp lid, not sure if he was looking for some long chrome tube like if he thought he asked a scion owner to pop the hood...

anyways he honestly was profiling, he picked me out as im pulling into the movie theater, just my luck, right infront ... at the end he told me i cut a car going into the movies so i got slapped with a fail to yield on a left ... .....

gran turino was good though!
