Who's got a system in their F-body?
#42
Kenwood KDC-X991, 2 zapco symbilink transmitters for front and rear speakers go into 2 zapco AG350 (ea. 2ch. 100rms@4ohms)amps powering a front set of Diamond Audio hex s600s component speakers, and in the sail panels a set of CDT HD-M6+ subs.
For the subs I first have a Audio Control Epicenter running into a MMATS D3500.05 (2700 watts rms) @ 1/2 ohm,then powering 2 Image Dynamics IDMAX10 d2's, each in 1.6cu.ft. w/external aero port @29hz.
For sound deadening : under the dash, above the headliner, on/in sail panel area, on/in the doors, floor area, rear fender area, hatchlid, and body bag area!
All done with 1-2 layers of secondskin damplifier, and overkill pro.
and finally under the car sprayon truckbed liner under front and rear seat area and rear trunk area.
That should be about all of it!
And 1 run of 4 gauge, and 1/0 gauge power wire running to the amps.
So loud it hurts!

I had a couple... the big black one you see is a Kicker ZR1000, which If I remember correctly it was rated at like 3200 watts. The purple one you can barely see under the subs is a Clarion... I think that was rated at like 600 watts or something like that... It's been about 7 years since I had that system. I miss it. Not everyday you can shake the windows at restaurants and get people to stand up wondering what the **** is going on

I get a lot of people confusing the two...
SPL = Sound Pressure Level
DB = Decibles of course
SPL basically measured the amount of force/pressure built up within an enclosed space... like the inner cab of your vehicle with all the doors closed and everything sealed up completely. The officials at the competitions would setup a little meter in the front dash of my car that would measure this force. It's sort of hard to explain...
www.dbdragracing.com is the competitions i took place in...
Basically, you've got a dragstrip racing tree setup in front of two cars... when the light hits green, you have 20 seconds to hit the highest recorded SPL possible with your system... the crowds are all around your two cars watching the SPL meters compete against one another. It's crazy... Big time adrenaline rush. I won a few, got a few trophies, it was fun times... I fully plan on getting back into that scene again...

5000 amp system (head gasms)
i have 2 - 1400 WATT DUAL VOICE COIL 12" POLK SPEAKERS IN A "Q POD" black vinyl box that filled the trunk space and matched the interior. those speakers are pushed by a 3000 watt PRECISION POWER amp.
8 POLK component speakers consisting of 4 tweeters and 4 mid-range pushed by a PRECISION POWER 1200 WATT amp and a PRECISION POWER 600 WATT amp. could have gotten by with just a "1200" watt with more channels.
also a 20 feragut capacitor is in the power line.
swapped my head unit out with a PIONEER unit that had a SWI (steering wheel interface) that let me maintain steering wheel control.
ststem is very smooth and mellow like butter.
because the box is not ported and the sub speakers are POLK some mad performance is sacrificed, but a change of sub speakers would change that in an instance.
i've got TEDDY PENDERGRASS begging in the CD backed up by USHER and a chilled bottle of COLD DUCK in the floor, all i need is a sweet thing to take shopping.

Im back from the dead.
i have a basic system, not done yet, but decent so far:
-JL cleansweep processor
- eD 7" subs in sail panels
-PPI PC-250 old school amp
-JL 12w6v1 in custom fiberglass box in stealth location
-PPI PC-275 old school amp
-optima red top
-1/0 power wire
-Monster pro-series interconnects
right now im running the front monsoon speakers (i replaced them with new ones 2 years ago). it sounds good but when i have the money im getting dynaudio 3-way components and running them either off a phoenix gold ZPA 0.3 or a 0.5 (whatever i can find with the x-over card in it).

fully dynamat'd doors, 2'x2' squares underneath front seats, in front footwells, rear footwells, subwoofer/trunk area, and 3.5'x2' patch across rear deck above the axle.
full wire job/carpeted kee amp rack/sub box
alpine CDA 9884, temporary
Hertz HSK-165's, tweeters flush mounted in front pillars
tru-tech billet b-475 amp in 200wx2 driving hertz speakers
tru-tech hammer H1 temporary
Idmax 10" v3
this is how my system was set up before I blew the 10" idmax a couple weeks ago. no distortion at all till it went, sounded great. the amps are fantastic, both are class AB, and a bit underrated. the hammer was only rated at 600w for the 4 ohms I was running the sub at. fantastic sub too. best sounding sub I have ever had that can still get loud. I was abusing it when it went, though I dont know how to feel about the fact the sub was rated for 400w rms more than the amp was. I have an S-500 from tru-tech mounted to the amp rack, and the hammer mounted to some fiberboard cut to fit the boot footprint. needed to recone the idmax for a dual 4 ohm setup so I could run the s500 at 2 ohms. eventually a nav unit up front since I built the car to be an all-around driver and I want it roadtrip worthy. lotsa new names to me because I was used to infinity, J.L., MB quartz, kicker, etc.
