No heat from mine at all, I'm running Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. Theres also nothing to insulate anything from the heat (if there was any) since I'm running a Pro 5.0 along with a billet MBA ****. Miles on the car arent too high though and the transmission is in great shape.

A buddy of mine has over 150K on his T56 and his shifter gets pretty hot, his transmission is pretty well worn though. Not sure what he's running for fluid now but he was using Mobil 1 Synthetic before.

i can feel the heat radiating out of my entire center console, not to mention my LTs and motor cooking my floorpans. my car is a ****** sweatbox!
