Default Buying used, modded vs stock. What do you like?

I know so much depends on the feeling you get with the owner and how the car is, but where do you stop? Like no internal mods, full boltons, mild boltons, fully built and forged, boosted motor, 100% stock.
Where do you all say enough is enough?

I don't post alot here anymore, but I have bought bone stock cars that I have built, and bought cars that someone else built.

The only good luck I had from buying a car already built was from a shop that was known for doing good work, and had their 2006 SEMA car for sale.

Less modded= less headaches

Depends on what you want to do, and the quality of the work.

Ex: If you are a NA guy, you wouldnt want to buy a car thats set up for nitrous... so if you would normally do gears and suspension, theres nothing wrong with picking up a car that already has that. ... to an extent.

When i bought my camaro before i put the turbo on it had the mods i wanted, and kept me happy for 3 years w/out changing anything big (very though for me) as im always adding stuff.

The TA was already done, and ive spent ALOT of time going through and fixing things. But i got it (atleast i think) at a good price... but it had been sitting and needed some stuff. So by the time im done i will still have spent less, and put less time into. But that car is honestly immaculate (15k miles when i bought it). I dont think ill buy someone elses project again.

My V is bone stock... even the tires. lol. But its a DD, and i dont plan on doing anything big to it.

So really it just depends on your competence on working on cars, what you want and the price. Dont turn away an amazing car JUST because you didnt build it. You just have to be ready to fix things and change things to YOUR liking. The car could be top notch, but you will still probably want to change stuff to accomidate you.

only way i'd buy modified is I would have to know the person that did the work otherwise I wouldnt take the chance. To many people cut cornors and **** and whatever money you would have tech saved you'd just be redoing. Plus its a better feeling when you build the car up and make it go fast then buy what someone else did

Stock preferred, I can do what I want.

If its modded, I better see the receipts, work orders, invoices etc and like the person that did the work to the car for me to purchase it.

Both my cars were stock when I bought them, and I like it better that way. Then I know that every time the car acts up, it was my fault.

Built to **** for a good price. That way if there are any troubles you still come out like a bandit on everything else.

being a shop owner, and seeing cars come to me already "built" from other shops.... i would say stock..... i have seen some crap that you guys would never believe.... and even if its stock i would have the dealership verify the stock tune, or load a stock cal.
