Tire pressure, intake/exhaust, and lowering the amount of rotating mass will help the most.

Double check all the brakes, Being a 94 I would be a little concerned on the calipers and how easy they float. Sometimes they like to seize up and drag slightly. I'd also use the light oil in the rear diff and engine. 5w-30 for the motor, and 75w-90 in the rear.

Narrower tires help with MPG too. A set of stock 16x8's on cheap 235/55/16 tires would help MPG.

BS. i've driven my car WOT an entire tank of gas practically and then the next kept the rpm's less than 3k (i have a manual) and the mpg was exactly the same. and by "exactly the same," i mean i didn't measure the .x in the number, but it was 17.x in both instances. maybe i have a weird ls1, but i don't think how i drive has ever made any difference at all.

i disagree with the cruise control. you want to keep the gas pedal as steady as possible. cruise control is constantly modulating the gas to maintain a perfect speed... not good for gas mileage

cruise control is very effective as long as there as there are not a lot of hills. I get an average of 3-4 mpg better with cruise control.

This is true on level ground. I wish I had cruise control because it is far better at precise RPM/MPH changes on flat ground than my foot is.

Nope. That only makes it idle which eats MORE gas. There is a function called Decel Fuel Enleanment that GM has been using for a long time. It is used in our cars for sure.
DECEL FUEL CUTOFF – Decel fuel cuttoff means exactly that. When you take your foot off the gas pedal going downhill or decelerating quickly, the ECM will cut off the fuel entirely. The difference between this term and the next one, DECEL FUEL ENLEANMENT, is that some fuel is allowed to reach the engine during DECEL Enleanment. As to when one or the other occurs, I don't know. I do know that on my TPI system, I noticed a lunge from the engine right around 1500 RPM, so I think this is where the DECEL fuel enleanment takes over from the DECEL FUEL CUTOFF. The lunge was significant and could easily cause you to run into the something if you weren't expecting it. I also believe a speed sensor is required for these two modes to operate period. So this is another reason to have a speed sensor.

It was a joke! It's obviously gay if you drive a Hybrid. You would never catch me driving a Prius...

What about a LS1 swap Prius? I think that would be awesome...
