I thought it was a SBC

Even so, ive seen budget yet well built 383s move huge *** chevelles quicker than that light little 3rd gen.

word man, i usually shift really good, i was just nervouse since i had all that drama going on for a whole day. i was scared of hitting my rev limiter and ******* up. i could afford to do so. i granny shifted the first 3 runs. the last 3 i was on the ball. that's why i pulled him a bit.

A4 with a shift kit or something.

Yea, hes probably still running a 700r4 and he tossed a Kragen shift kit in it, I wonder if its even stalled. If he were running a T56 and could shift it would probably make a huge difference.

I had two IROCs, one 5.0 and one 5.7, both 700r4s, those transmissions are terrible.

Maybe, I thought I read it was an lt1 swap that's what happens when you skim through a thread.

Good run, thanks for the vid. That's one way to humble him down a bit!! Looks like he's making 280 rwhp on motor and 380 rwhp on the juice?

It's hard to compare a TPI to an LT1 and even an LS1, most TPI engines are restricted by their diesel like power bands, TONS of torque down low but they stop making power at about 4,900 RPM.

I noticed the car was an RS. Do you know if it was TPI or TBI? That would make a big difference.

The 3rd Gen's you could get a 5.0 in RS trim....4th gen all RS = v6... they didn't put the 5.7 in anything other then the Z28's for the 3rd gens...

Good runs. Sounds like you have a supercharger? Or is that just your gears wining. Lol. I dont think that 3rd gen had a 383. No way, unless it is a pos 383. A 120 shot and h/c/e on a stock 305 would be about right for that race.

^^That is correct. I can believe that could be a 383 if it was TBI (toilet bowl injection) TBI is pretty much a fuel injected 2 barrel carburetor. It cant flow enough air so all it would be doing is choking out the engine. Even TPI chokes out a 383. Most of the high horsepower 383 TPI engines have a miniram, or stealth ram manifold because they are capable of flowing enough, plus those manifolds don't die out at about 5k. But who knows what he really had. If you ever see him again, have him pop open the hood. I think that was a fast car for an RS.
