anyone have experience with Child services and meth mom? Here's the deal, my adopted brother's chick just had their baby on the 15th and she tested positive for meth. Child services took the baby and there is now a fight over who gets the child, her family or mine. My brother is an unfit parent already proven twice over, but that's not the issue. (deadbeat dad)
Her family is a bunch of ghetto *** trash who stormed the CPS office and raised hell, looking like a bunch of thugs and crack ******. My dad just told my brother to keep his mouth shut and be as polite and cooperative as possible with the CPS rep.
The CPS lady is trying to get the kid to my parents now, but how in the heck does all this work? I would assume it is a temporary custody thing right?

Cps will give the child to whom ever can provide better
Good housing,
Good education
Good in the lack of a better word food.
If u can prove that her family is what you say they are you win.
I seen this **** happen a lot.
It can be either short term or long term. Depending on a lot of things. Like if her or the family don't clean up their act then its long term.

I hate to mention this, but I have way too much experience with this. The mother usually wins, UNLESS it's proven she's unfit. If your bro can show that he IS able to care for the baby he may get custody (if he requests it. They'd rather put the baby with family than foster care). You can also suggest that the grandparents take the baby. That's what happened in my case. But the baby had to be in protective custody for 2 weeks. My ex turned out to be a Heroin addict who used the day she went into labor. Sad case. Turns out the baby wasn't mine after all.....3 months later.

Thats what ended up happening, they will find out today if they are getting the baby. Both my parents had to go down to the police station last night to get a livescan and have their records checked.
That happened to my other brother. He was married for 11yrs+ and they ended up getting a divorce when their daughter was about 3-4yrs old. Well around her 8th birthday he finds out she is not even his kid, the **** slept around on him while they were married. Sad thing was by that point the daughter was a fully integrated part of the family. Hell she is still my niece no matter who her long lost father is!!

Holy **** man bummer to hear I hope the best for the kid and I hope your folks get her, sucks that this is how the child is brought into the world.
Mike I hear ya I am sad but glad when I think about one of my exes who had an abortion behind my back, she was an ex junkie and I don't know how we would have ended up taking care of the kid with her lack of balance.
