have you tried it with out the maf ? if not unplug it with the key off , then try and start it , might take a couple times to get it to pop the maf code and revert to the SD side of the tune

I did try it without the maf sensor and it still was shitty. Does anyone know what the best gap is for the ngk tr5's? I gaped mine to .050. They came .040 from the store.

Started taking the plugs that I just installed on Saturday out and there already getting fouled. Smell like gas and have carbon on the end. They were dry. I am going to try some different coilpacks this weekend.

i havent seen to many LS coils go bad , but anything is possible

to me it sounds like the computer is commanding it to run rich , id look at the MAP , IAT and coolant temp sensor , though it would be more helpful to have a scanner to read them through the computer

What does your car do when the map sensor goes bad?

it can go rich or lean , drive poorly , or it can give the pcm a false barometric reading

If you did torque the intake manifold to FT. lbs instead of inch lbs. you most likely stripped some of the threads on the heads.

The torque wrench was inch lbs, and I was looking for the ground but was having a hard time finding it.

I doubt you would successfully make it past the first pass if it was ft.lbs...

well i would think it would be 2 or more wires pinched together from the intake , i know i had to be careful with the knock sensor wires on my gto when i swapped to the fast 78

you coulda pinched or cut the map wires also

but trying to figure out a sensor short of pulling it all back apart is where a scanner is helpful , even then pulling it apart doesnt show the whole picture

i know with my old cavalier , they had major issues with the IAT plug , when the factory crimped the wires at the plug , they would break inside and still look good on the outside , sometimes it never set a code other times it came on right away , and being a auto trans it slammed into each gear like it was a full on drag car , and was in 4th gear before crossing the intersection

When I took the MAP sensor off this last time one of the orange rings at the bottom was coming off, maybe that is an issue.

These are the stock injector sizes below:

1998: 28.6 lb/hr
1999-2000: 26.4 lb/hr
2001-2002: 28.8 lb/hr

The true size of the injector for my car is 22, and for 98,01,02 is 24. Will this make a big differcne and make my car run more rich since it is in my computer to run for 22? Or am I reaching to far on this?

Yeah the bolts will snap off around 22 ft lbs or so. But i have bought a set of heads that had 2 of those threads stripped before. Just throwing a what if out there since its nearly impossible to diag a car if you can see exactly whats going on with it. Im just bench diag like everyone else, Hes just going to keep throwing parts at the car this way.

Why don't you go look at his car for him? Havn't you diag it before?

He said he would look at the car for me. I have to get it towed out to Orange county, and right now using my AAA it will cost 250 to tow it. I tried to see if I could upgrade it to the 100 miles but Ive used the AAA since and didnt update it at the time so I have to wait. All else fails I am going to see if I can use my dads card to get it towed. I dont plan on throwing anymore parts at it since the funds for this project are low, but I am just trying to see what I can look out for or what I could do with my current situation. Thanks for your suggestions.

most injectors are rated in the 40-45psi range , and has been all over the place with their ratings , i think the older obd1 and early obd 2 were in the mid 30psi range , then moved to mid 40 , then mid 50 and mid 60

so you have to look at the psi they are rated at also , and why you would see 26.4 for the 99-00 and actul of 22

but a couple lb hr larger the computer should be able to make up for

Well if you get the P0300 misfire code then you might get nervous. Turns out I have a badly bent intake valve, and a bent pushrod on number cylinder #7. Had Chris and Jason check it out in OC. Looks like its time to start getting the parts together. Just wanted to updat this thread since I know other people have this issue. What casued this to happen, im not sure.
