If you are completely stock, then it's open season. Here's a summary of what you will hear. If cost is factor, get an cutout installed either right before the axle, or just before the muffler for a sweet idle sound and wicked WOT. Next step up is Hooker and Magnaflow systems mellow/bold, appreciated like a stout beer - most who have these on stock machines wish they had gone louder. Enter the SLP offerings. LM1 and LM2 setups are very popular, with LM2 being the consensus middle ground between mellow cutback and agressive LM1. If you are planning additional engine/header/cat work then avoid LM1/2 as they amplify the rasp. Next up is the 304 stainless setups with Borla/Corsa. Borla has a great bypass type system that you can adjust the muffler flow, which keeps people entertained. Corsa is hands down a great choice if you have the money - mild at crusing speed, loud at WOT, and great looking tips. Lastly, are the true duals - simply put this requires some time and research, but Bassani had an off the shelf true dual system that you can install yourself, and has a unique aggressive sound. Listen to clips on ls1sounds.com to get a better feel of things.
I've owned Borla, LM1, Stock SS, and Stock z28, and been in cars with the setups I listed above.

Longtubes with 3" true duals by Jose at Bodywerkz in the Valley (Google it). Could sound awesome with some Magnaflow bullets.
I have a Bassani bolt-on true dual catback for stock manifold/stock cat cars and am happy with it. Still not as loud as other exhaust setups but I still got a modified exaust ticket for it. lol. Don't have any good videos of it, but you can get an idea on Youtube. With no cats, the Bassani gets decently loud... I get a lot of compliments on it and a lot of people think I have headers for some reason.

Magnaflow all the way. Cheap and great quality plus quiet at idle yet screams at WOT. I have a small sound clip in my sig but it soungs much better in person imo. Dont go with any chambered muffler as that will rob you of power. Magnaflow is a straight through design and stainless.

I dont know anyone that runs my set-up, but I have the RandomTech Highflow cats and y-pipe system (Carb Number included). Following that is my SLP LM1. Its pretty loud when you get on it but not to crazy if you drive normal.
Shorty Headers going on soon so it will get only louder but the cool part about it is you cal always change the resonator.
Almost Zero rasp, just brutal sound.
I wanted to keep mine street legal, Its expensive but no issues when its smog time. Bolt on just in case, dont like welded on system.
