Yes, there is a TSB that Dex III has been superceded by Dex VI..but this has only been around for a few years. What about the past 12 or so years GM has been using Dex III in 4L60E's? Does that mean they all slipped at WOT because Dex VI wasn't formulated yet? The Dex VI just helps to "extend the life" of the tranny. A tranny wont slip just because it has Dex III, because at one point that's all there was to use.

I'll be the 23rd person to say... rebuild time If it bangs the limiter with a stock tune, it's internals. It's not a stuck servo or solenoid, because it shifts fine at regular RPM's.

Wishful thinking never solves anything. So take it from the 23 people who are telling your "tranny time"

Well tranny finally gave out. Only 1-2 gears work great and 3-4 won't go in. I'm going to check the pressure solenoids for 3-4 and see what happens. :/ if not it's rebuild time.

Don't bother checking the solenoids sounds like the band gave out or servo.

Edit: The band is also used to engage 2nd. Since you say 2nd is working it sounds like your 3-4 clutch packs are worn out like a hooker in vegas.

This is likely the reason why..

At WOT, it will theoretically never shift from 3rd into 4th while utilizing the stock tune.
