Can a cop wave you over from the side of the road??
Every now and than in Ontario on Milliken sitting on the overpass over the 10 freeway, there's this motor cycle cop that actually steps out into the lanes and wave random motorist to pull over, wether getting off the freeway or just going over the freeway. Is that legal?? I thought that a cop has to have a reason to pull you over. I know it's random, cause I sat at a red light and just watched him yell and wave motorist to pull over. The driver looks very confused. The cop almost got hit by this lady driver that swearved around the cop. The last time I saw the motorcycle cop was this pass Thursday after getting gas at the 76 at the Mills. I think that's wrong of the cop. I only see the cop during the morning time.

No way the cop could have seen their tags. The cop stands on the side of the road, and when the nearby lite turns green, he steps out into the lanes, points at a car and than directs the driver to the side of the road. Surprise he hasn't gotten hit.

I had a cop do that to me before and I just kept driving like I didn't see him then hauled *** around a corner. I saw him in the rear view jogging back to his car...
I figured if they did pull me over later I would just say, and go to court if I had to, that I could see no proof he was a cop, could have been a random guy in some security uniform waving me over to hijack me or something. You want to pull me over use a vehicle and lights... You LEGALLY are allowed to KEEP DRIVING if you don't feel safe pulling over where you are and not pull over until you do feel safe.
Now, you better have a damn good excuse when you get caught and end up in jail then court to explain yourself, lol...
Luckily I did not ever get a ticket. This was FL though...

Is there a right hand turn only lane or a left hand turn only lane involved in this scenario? I have seen LEO's flag people down for either one of those. I am sure that LEO is pulling people over for a reason that is not apparent to the OP, and not just a random every so many car pull over. I have heard of them doing a random pull over for roadside smog testing.

if they have a speed trap set up and they got you on radar, you are probably better off if you do not make the guy chase you. especially if he sees you looking at him mouthing "oh ****" before continuing along. i have been advised by a cop that it is "2 counts of evasion"
