Default Need opinions. Again.

Some guy with a cts-v (2012) is calling me out for 1000, to run in mexico. Why when I get my car done people chellenge me? Anyway. This guy said he would run me for 1k and he doesn't even know what I have. I have ms3, ported 243's and soon to be some dry shot of N2o. Would I kill this CTS-V?
Not tuned yet so don't know what I'll put down. Obviously I won't run untuned but after I'm done with tune and all I will run

Do you know this guy? Any idea what he's got under that hood? The bigger gamble here would be getting back from Mexico alive :p

You said a dry shot of nitrous soon, but will that be after the tune way down the line(meaning not using it in the race), or before the tune?

You should at least be making ~400rwhp(this is just the worst case scenario power wise I'm using) especially since I remember seeing posts of your car making pretty good power completely stock right? The gap between his stock rwhp, and your modded rwhp shouldn't be larger than 100hp, and spraying should completely close that gap. Then you're lighter by a decent amount so I would think it's yours to lose.

As long as he doesn't have a pulley swap or something I would think you should be fine if you can launch the car without any issues.

what's the point of doing extensive mods to your car and not being down to run?

maybe you should try it out with another fbody (mine) before going up against that LSA....

He says it's completly stock. Of course I wouldn't run without looking under the hood first. And I Want to tune and nitrous all at once.

Yeah find out who this guy is too, there are a couple running around with pulleys exhaust and tune and they are putting down a good amount. From my understanding too is that these new cts-v's have a better rear too, unless he has some good tire he might spin it, but he can launch it harder than the older style. Do a plate kit 150 shot and call it a day man lol.

Is it a roll race or a dig race?

Probably he will want to do a dig run. I'm going to have to buy a better rear end that's for sure.

What's a good nitrous kit? I'm clueless when it comes to that

With ms3 & tune no chance. With a 150 shot yea. A "stock" running lsa for 1k garanteed isnt stock

If hes putting down 1k and doesn't care what you have under the hood, Then most likely you will end up loosing 1k.

I know they are some sick cars. What I think happened is that one of my friends is instigating and told him that he kept up with me. My friend has a bolt on Z, gave em a little tease 1st and second gear while I was spinning 1st and 2nd gear. Then he kept telling everyone he was right next to me.

hey ryne..what's up bro? it's hector. saw that white v @ the corvette forum. nice work! i still want to take my car in for a dyno..

manny, off a dig, you might be able to take the V? with a pulley swap (upper/lower/or both), the V produces a lot of torque down low and controlling the spin is a challenge on stock tires. i've got upgraded pullies and i have traction issues in low gears. on a roll, your guess is as good as mines. i work around your area. let me know if you want to meet up..hopefully i can help you win that race?

What color cts-v are you suppose to race ? If it's white I wouldn't do it and one more thing as mentioned above if he is willing to put 1k down and not even look at your I wouldn't do it. There are a few Hennesy Vs around and there's one that I know of that made 700+.

See and he doesn't know what I have. For all he knows I might just have a heads cam car. From what my friend told him I'm sure he said it's slow and he kept up. Plus I'm smarter then to say yes to a challenge for a grand over the phone. In my eyes he is the dumb one betting something over the phone. Not sure what color it is, my friend just called and asked if I was down to run for 1k with a 12 CTS-V bone stock. I can hear the guy in the background saying grand no less.

Most likely that he is no fool. Most people that throw 1k down on a race without looking at your setup are confident and been around or stupid and rich. Why don't you just race him and find out.
