high mileage ls1
My ls1 is close to 200,000 miles and I was thinking about adding a turbo. Should I just add thw turbo for the heck of it or just wait for a rebuild and then add a turbo? Opinions wanted. Thanks!!!

Tough, tough call. If it was me i'd wait. You still going to get many thousand miles more from the motor. I say so with my Z/28 has close to 188k miles and am sure it should go many miles more. But, as mentioned definetly check compression. Good luck on what you decide.

its a lil late now ..but in the future, any time you rebuild an engine, especially a hipo engine, you should always align hone your mains and deck the block. its hard to tell in the pictures but the heads should also be resurfaced. on a FI engine, a true mating surface is a must.
just a cpl other things i noticed:
1.if youre going to reuse those cam shaft bolts the minimum i would do is, clean the threads really well with a non residue leaving solvent and use blue lok-tite.
2. did u measure the cylinders for out of round and taper? did you even hone them? because i swear i can still see the carbon staining above the ring ridge. ring seal is critical to the success of a strong running engine. as well as proper piston clearance.
3. was any preparation done to crank/rods/bearings?
4. depending on your desired output/rpm range. i might look into better valvesprings.
5. not sure what you will be using to bolt the heads down, but you can not reuse your original head bolts. the threads stretch and deform when you torque them and are only good once.
i hope you dont take these observations the wrong way. just trying to save you some future grief. good luck with your build.
