WTB - f-body, impy or GTP in CA...
Joe are you crazy? You said you wanted a clean 6spd for cheap. It's clean, it's a six speed, and $9,000 is cheap! If it were priced at say $8,000 it would be a steal, but I think it will sell just find at $9,000.

Are you crazy? It's a hardtop/pewter car (2 things I hate) and its not cheap...its almost $2000 over high book...It's obviouusly been driven hard (its on its second motor and has lots of mods)....

Read the last post on there....a T/A with 100k on it for $6900...that is a good deal....a hardtop Z with tons of miles for $2000 over book is not....
Some of you guys are nuts....
A stock 98 automatic TA with 100k miles for $6900 is a good buy.
This guys car is a 99, six speed (much higher demand), has nice rims, better stereo, and ~$2k in mods. In addition it has a lower mile engine and new clutch. I'd rather have this car for the extra $2,100. I'd sell the rims/tires and a bunch of the mods off, and have a car worth more than that stock 98 for less than $6,900. You just have no vision!
Also his car is well below retail (high) bluebook. You think high blue book is trade in value..
Loan companies want you to have 20% equity in a car, so you take high blue book, times it by .8, and that is usually the loan amount they will give.

I know my car is worth right around $9,000, and I think this guys car is worth about the same. It's a year newer and a six speed. My car has a few more mods and 40k less chassis miles. This guy has a fresher engine. I have ttops, he has better rims. All in all I bet everything washes out.
There are three blue book levels, trade in, private party, and retail. Private party is "middle" bluebook. If you want to call it "high" you can, but I'd argue you're "high".
I agree that getting a loan on a 100k mile car is difficult. For cars in this price range, most people usually pay cash or charge them on the old credit card.

This car while being a year newer has double the miles (HUGE mileage hit) and is a hardtop (less desireable) which probably makes it a wash being a 6 speed unless someone is looking to buy a cheap car to race....
It has a slightly fresher motor, but who knows anythign about the motor? And if he went through the first one is 70k or so, whose to say this one won't have the same fate....I'd take a car with far lower miels on the original factory motor vs a high mileage one with a newer motor in it any day (simply from a resale and piece of mind point of view)....
Yes, there are 3 KBB levels....
Trade-in (which dealers never offer as much as)
Private Party (high book for a private party sale)
Suggested Retail (what a dealer would charge, and most of the time a delaer wil price a car between Private Party and here..depending on the car and the dealer)
There is a reason there are seperate prices for dealers and private party....and additionally no dealer would sell that car anyway, it would get wholesaled out...
Seeing as there are muleiple cars in the trader this week with similar or less miles for under $8000 from DEALERS, I think $9000 is a bit steep for that car (especially considering he's had that car in the trader for $11,000 for awhile)...
Again, to each his own, but in my book, you car is worth far more than his....and I can't see someone paying $2000 or so over Private party book for a car with well over 100k on it....
