im home on lunch from my shithole job (without asking permission i might add....explination of that below) and they just did the one thing that i swore i would never work for a company that did this
essentially it said this
We have too many calls in que and long hold times, effective immediatly NO ONE CAN LEAVE FOR LUNCH, BREAK, OR THE END OF THE DAY WITHOUT MANAGEMENT APPROVAL
**** THAT!!!! that is the main reason i got out of call centers in the first place (3 years ago) this was not supposed to be run that way..... if they want to run it like that, they can hire some other sucker...
im so sick of corporate BS like that
mandatory overtime is illegal...so is forcing people to not take breaks and lunch (which im sure is ultimately what that will lead to "sorry we have a que, wait till it goes down" hr later "sorry still ahve a que" etc)

its illegal to not take a lunch/break, so if they pull that, give the corperate office a call... im sure that'll set things straight, or if they fire you for taking a lunch, take legal action.. get lots of money.

a few months ago (before i got there) they actually did just that
they told people they would buy them lunch, IF they skpped lunch and worked 9 hrs instead of 8, so basically they had you work through lunch for a free lunch and 1 extra hours pay
sorry but taking lunch isnt just about eating, its about getting away from the phones
had i known these things before i was interviewed i probably would have turned the interview down.

I'd be having a blast on the phone...People would call just to talk to me, either that or I'd make them uncomfortable and they wouldn't call anymore...Try to have some fun with he people and it'll make the day go by quicker...
