8th VIN digit "E" is an LO3 (305 TBI)
And due to this fact and also looking at the pics, Carfax is not the best resource for trying to indentify certain models of cars.

That car is not a GTA. What carfax says mean nothing. Also, all t-top GTA's came with 305 and the 305 was an option on the hardtop. Some GTA parts this car is missing are:
GTA interior; dash pouch, seats, door panels
Radio controls on steering wheel
GTA fenders
Gold Pontiac on headlight
Gold bird on tailights
Gold wheels
There may be other, but that's all I see right now. That car is def not a GTA.

well i see no one has posted in this thread for a month but i just found it so i'll chime in. i'm a die hard firebird guy, i own an 89 gta now, and i had another one in the past. as mentioned the fenders are wrong, gta were offered with 305s but not tbi, and who ever said that t top models were only built with 305s is partly wrong, in 91 and 92 t top cars were only offered with a 305, in 87-90 you could have t tops and a 350. i know from the books on trans ams i own and from the fact that both of my t top gtas had 350s.
