this mod when you smog it on a warm day:

My last car was a 02 ZO6 and it was a H/C car. I had MTI Stage 2e heads and a X1 cam, ported tb, tpis long tube headers, Borla exhaust and 31lbs injectors. Although a picky smog tester might not let the visual pass, I found most didn't care as long as it passed the sniffer, which it did with flying colors. Infact, in some cases the results were a little better than stock. Btw, the car put down 430 rwhp.

Almost as important as the parts you choose, will be who you have dial the car in. A lot of tuners were tune for power under WOT but don't do a lot for the mid, low, and idle. Make sure you have a tuner that knows you want to be able to pass the sniffer.

i just had a 383 camaro with 227-232 112+2 cam pass the sniffer with american racing long tubes and cats........ but on average in a stock cube car 224-228 114+2 is the biggest that will pass reliably, as far as heads any of them to be honest as long as its tuned correctly it will pass. of course this may very on the smog technician if he will over look visual inspection.

well potentially, with a smog passing tune how much power is the 224-228 114+2 cam capable of making? Also what will it sound like? Keep in mind my exahust will be nearly totally stock, only change will probably be an LM2 catback.

well a smog passing tune really doesnt exist or isnt needed, you just need to tune the car and make sure all the fuel trims are in line. as far as sound and power it will sound nice a slight lope, and power wise through stock manifolds you are looking at around 360-380 wheel conservatively

Ok just talked to Texas Speed(Great service! Answered alot of vauge questions well!) And This is the Pkg that was recomended to me;
PRC stg 2.5 5.3L heads
TS 224R cam on 114LSA(224/224 .581 lift 114LSA)
So, with stock manifolds(I live in california thats why!) Im hoping this will put me somewhere around 380-400rwhp on a smogable tune. What do yall think?

seems like it will rip but i have heard the cheatr cam is designed for stock manifolds and will get you the best gain. as far as heads i think it depends on how much money you have.

ya Ive heard similar, and Id like to speak to someone who has run a cheater cam before. Id still like to know what this combo would make. The seller said approximatly 75-85rwhp gain, which would put me pretty close to my origional goals. Also, dont know if Im being a stupid newb here, but the dyno graph of the cheater cam looks like it sucks! dosent develop max power until redline...no power "under the curve" as it were.
