Default Well I did it...

Took the plunge and went with the TSP 5.3 heads and 224R cam. In the end it came down to cost. I looked at the flow rates for each head and they were very similar, within 10cfm of each other at .550 and .600, which is about where the 5.3 heads lift, also I got everything Ill need (pushrods, timing chain, and gaskets) and some things I wont really (P&P LS6 oil pump) for 1000 dollars less than the TR cheater pkg. Looking forward to getting back and installing!
One last question, Would high flow cats and bigger Y pipe help since I cant run LT's? Im considering getting random tech's catted Y and magnaflow catback(right now have flow master).

if you are sticking with the factory manifolds with that setup then you want to try to get the best flowing y pipe and cats possible. With a nicer y pipe, high flow cats and a magnaflow/cutout catback you would probably get 15horsepower back. The flowmaster will only make about the same power as the factory muffler. But with that setup you should really run longtubes you would see in the area of another 30-40 horsepower with some nice headers and y pipe. And you should install that oil pump if you allready paid for it, it will do nothing but safeguard your motor.

The combo in my sig passed with flying colors; the rwhp is before the AFR 205mongoose heads were installed.

Ryne tuned the car last Friday, and it made an estimated 388 rwhp on the dyno. I say estimated because the dyno numbers were not done on a dynojet, as was the pre-head install dyno figure at 355 rwhp, but on a dyno dynamics dyno, and after doing the math, it equals @388 rwhp. So damn near 390 rwhp with smog legal shorties! Add a Fast 90/90 intake and mass airflow, and youll probably see 400 rwhp. Add the intake and lohgtubes, you'll see over 400 rwhp.

BTW I found Ryne and his crew to very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and I will take my car back to them for future mods.

This is what I dont understand, How do those of you that run LT's get away with it? Believe me if I could I would! sadly I have no one living out of state to register the car at their address, and I dont know of another way to do it!

Look, I get it, I understand the concept! Im just more worried about passing vehicle testing. Dont get me wrong I want all I can get from my car, but LT's just seem like they would be a hassel to deal with every time inspection came around.

Not by huge amount, maybe 10 rwhp, but in my book, every little bit counts; plus Im getting too old to put up with the BS, you have to deal with at the smog (referee) station, or if you get flagged to pull up on a mobile dyno, or some cop with a little knowledge about cars, decides to ask you to pop the hood, when they start working the area for street racers.
