So anyone know of any yards in CA where i can get me an LS1 with auto trans? didn't want to have to go through Ebay, or pay to have it shipped without seeing it in person.

There was three used LS1 engines at the Good Guys show here in Pleasanton. Too bad they thought they'd get $800 for them.
I'd buy a short block and go from there and keep searching the boards. Most pick n pull places out here don't stock anyhting newer than ten years.
Sometimes you get lucky, like my boy finding AFR 225cc heads for $900

just do it the right way, its gonna be more but well worth it at the end, dont rush it cuz then youll run into problems, get a custom made harness for your car instead of slicing and splicing away, caspers electronics makes great harnesses at a affordable price, better than painless in my opinion, im also doing a hybrid project and its taking me for ever to finish it put im doing it the right way. im doing a 83 cutlass wagon and dropping in a 87 buick gn built motor.
