good, then 2 qts it is.

now i was also reading about not using the gasket, to just use the rtv sealant. any one qith more info on this

i used a replacement gasket from kragen that cost like $3 and i used some rtv to hold it in place onto the cover while i bolted everything up! so far now no leaks!

that is mostly personel prefence, myself i hate rtv sealant so i use gaskets

Ya, my 9" didn't even take 3 quarts. lol, sucks when you find out that you have been ripped.

is there anything wrong with running a heaver weight oil in a stock diff?

Always used the additive, no matter what oil u choose.

I used RP in my old Z after the gear swap.

In the SS i use the GM oil. Both work great.

Don't quote me on this because my memory might be fuzzy, but I could have sworn I read a slight increase (.1) in ET and slightly more fuel consumption. I'd search the gears section, maybe maintenance too, if you need the answer.

I used the 85/140 but can't confirm either of the above.
