After reading this thread got me thinking I have Hooker LT's with a 4" muflex exhaust and a LT4 hot cam. I'm wondering how much of an issue I'm going to have with it in the SVF or to be more specific, I live in Granada Hills. Close to Northridge. Any of you live in the area with similar mods having many issues with the local PD?

I wasn't calling you out or anything, just wondering why it seemed like your were worried about it but at the same time you have a get out of jail free card. If I had that in my pocket, I would be tempted to go pretty extreme.

But I get where you're coming from b/c not all of them will leave you alone.

Yea I have played poker with quite a few but thats like 1/30th of the PD and none of the Sherrif or CHP so I have been a little worried, but Im going with LTs anyway. Im just going with mufflers that will give me about the same volume as my Loudmouth and I havent had problems with that yet.

Personally, I have nothing against cops, but I refuse to play poker with them.

When I use to play hardcore about 10+ years ago, those ******* cheated, BS'd, and tried everything to get out of paying. It was always ugly and unprofessional. But that club is defunct now so they are probably better now. But I'm still scarred.

$10 would be high for the group I play with now LOL, just friends and family. Same here, it's a good reason to hang and drink, but I only do it if my wife goes to drive me home.

Maybe if it has cats and the smog tech doesnt inspect it. If you dont have cats forget it.

Longtubes are illeagl because they move the location of the cats which is ileagl in cali...i have seen many longtube cars pass the sniffer but always fail the visual.

Long tubes will NOT pass the visual, and that cam probably wont pass the sniffer...but Im no expert, a competent tuner will give you good advice about the cam. As stated above, the visual inspection will kill you, cause even if you run cats, you've moved their location which is illegal. You can find a shop that will pass you if the tailpipe is clean, but thats always a crap shoot. (Did that back in the 90's with a 69 Camaro; one year it wasnt tested, the next year it was, the next year it wasnt, back and forth, back and forth, depending on what the tree-hugger law makers were up too; the friend of a friend dosnt always work out, because hes not at that shop anymore). The other problem is there is enough cops in the hobby out here that drive performance cars (mostly old school stuff) that if you get one that knows just a little about cars, you'll be in for a long day, if he wants to make an example out of you.

Somone earlier posted that his buddy was pulled over and ticket for having cold air induction. Rediculous! The only time I've been pulled over, the cop also asked me to pop my hood open. After a close inspection he started questioning me on my air lid. I got a quick impression that he knew stuff about engine modding. He basically told me that if a cop isn't familiar with say, high flow airlids, they can cite the person for it. He then asked me if I had paperwork for the purchase of the lid. I laughed (in my head) and told him "not on me", but I did have receipts. I mean it's completely stupid...making a poor fellow go through all the red tape of taking it to someone who can verify its legality and THEN clear the ticket. He also questioning me about my polished JBA SHORTY headers, and trying to convince him they weren't long-tubes. But then, after about 15 minutes of being pulled over to the side of the road, he basically let me go with a "nice car", and that was it. You know what...I was still a little annoyed at the whole thing. It's not like I had an obvious twin-turbo setup, or nitrous lines all over the place. Sheesh!!

Yeah, true. They are all busy pulling over the ricers and the tiny midlife crisis sportsters. I've driven by several cops so far (no muffler, it rusted off) they dont seem to be bothered. But, I don't go WOT or anything.

Bikers and muscle cars are ok in socal.
