It's getting harder and harder for me to justify living in California any longer. If you have an aftermarket muffler on your car you're considered a racer. The laws are too broad and can cover a wide spectrum of things. Expect the media to over hype this and even more stings to go down.

I used to hang out at get togethers but stupid people would come through in their bucket *** car and try to ' swing ' and race their 16 second car. I've always said if I ever win the lotto I would build a huge track that you can race at, that you can hang out at and not have to worry about events like this going down.

I would suggest a lot of members sign up for the SEMA Action Network and take a stand against California [ mostly ] taking away enthusiasts rights.

I hear ya, that's my complaint.

Hey, I own a gun, pull me over as a suspect to murder when I leave a gun show.

Where's the Reverend Jesse Jackson? Oh wait, I'm white.

I've already joined and contributed (SAN). What we need in CA is someone with money to challenge these laws to the state supreme court. Without that, nothing is going to change.

These "sweeps" really infringe on our rights. Not our rights as car enthusiasts, but our rights as citizens.

Please, I don't want any ****** to tell me about who I elect b/c until Jay Leno is in legislature, I don't have a say.

Default hooters "bust" "stakeout"

this was not a bust - and it was not a stakeout
i WAS EATING at hooters when this all went down and i watched it all

for those who think things like "what do they expect" or "where else can we go for our favorite hobby" i say this - you should have been there to see the stupidity that was rampant - there were well over 100 cars there and while most of them were being cool and walking around, they were many more who were drag-racing, drifting in front of oncoming traffic in the parking lot, doing burnouts in front of the stores and everything else that calls attention in public places

it got huge in a hurry due to this fact / while the hooters area parking lot is technically riverside now since the city annexed it after riverside raceway was shut down years ago, people think its moreno valley still / when people were calling the cops ( and rightfully so due the increasing number of jack-asses present ) they were calling mo-val pd, which obviously wont respond - riverside pd is too short staffed to move right away and it got ridiculous in a hurry - when they finally did get there only 4 cars showed up at first and then the rest came in time. They originally only moved into the lot and started herding people out, not messing with ANYBODY at all - those who decided to act tough and play anyway got what they deserved -

take it to the track and quit endangering peoples lives and causing further negativity to come over the ENTIRE car scene and culture

Good point and I agree.

Problem is, how many times do you see a sobriety check point outside of a bar or club?

If the people that were busted in this raid were chowing down inside Hooters and that Pizza joint, there wouldn't have been a problem.

Very valid point and I wasn't sticking up for people that drive that way. It's a double edged sword because most of the car enthusiast community acts civilized and follows most standard laws.

You get the stupid young kids trying to show off & go hyphy that ruin it. Honestly, I think the Fast & The Furious made it worse, after that movie, which I wached in theaters had ricers thinking they were gods.

But with all the tracks closing down what do people expect to happen? If most of these people were given a venue to hang out at I'm sure you wouldn't have as much trouble.

That being said sometimes it's good for things like this to happen so you get rid of the asshats.

Will never happen though, the media helps decide what happens and they portray it in amanner that is most of the time worse than it is.

If it was my establishment and the people that are acting like morons, I wouldn't care if they ate at my spot or not. I'd have them escorted off of my property and told not to come back. It's stupid people that have nothing better to do that ruin nice functions.....

"100 officers raided a parking lot"

Not just riverside PD
"Police from Riverside and other agencies shut off the exits to the lot to inspect more than 150 vehicles."

"Officers wrote a similar number of citations, including 48 for illegal modifications common"
not harrassing anyone?....right
