I am shocked that they would know the difference between the stock cats from several years as well. The guy must have done his home work and reviewed some schematics or other guide...

Yup if the ticket does not have the sticker on the back it doesnt require a refree sign off. The guy didnt know his stuff but he had a computer at the spot that would show him what a stock 98z should look like. I didnt pass also because my mass air flow censor did not have a carb number but i was lucky enough that i had the box still with the carb sticker in the box, he then scaned the carb number and it turns out that the mass air flow censor was for a ford?!!! i had that mass air flow censor for two years and never had a problem with it, it even passed smog with it. i am going to put my stock one back next time i go. the first check up is $30 and the one after is free.
