here on base, if you get caught talking (not including earpiece) it's an automatic suspension of your driving privileges on base for a year. that's been going on for a little while now. (someone from 29 palms correct me if i'm wrong)

i say if it's not an emergency, like someone is dying or you're getting chased by a serial killer, there is no point in talking while driving. need directions? pull over. wife wants to talk to you? stop at a fast food place to get a bite to eat and talk. what is the point in this?

hell even now if someone calls when i'm driving, i'll just pick it up, hit the answer button, and yell "i'm driving i'll call back!", and hang up on them. don't even have to move the phone even close to my head, or look at who's calling.

Now you can Talk with the phone to your ear and drive, after the 1st you can talk on the phone, + Eat and drive, well i guess you could do that also before the law goes into effect, but i see allot more accidents in the near future when people discover they can do even more multi tasking with the earpiece and hands free! just my thoughts

You cant get stopped for this though, but if you get pulled over for a violation and you are on your cell phone you get an added fine. Also i believe there is a clause in there that juveniles cant text while driving.

well thats great and all, but my job involves driving, and often they are calling me while im on the road. This often happens while im on the freeway and I usually cant just pull off to answer but I do have a bluetooth headset.

my opposition to this is not that i want to talk on my phone. I have no problem using a headset. My issue is that what takes away peoples concentration isnt the act of holding up the phone, its the act of them being too involved in their conversation. I also think the texting is way out of hand.

i was just exxagerating on the emergency part. i'm just mainly talking about the people who sit there and go "oh how was your day" while driving. work is completely understandable, and i'm sure your job doesn't keep you on the phone for long *** periods at a time. and the fact that you actually have a hands-free device is better too.
