Default july 1st, no more cell phones

So I noticed a sign on the freeway that said everyone must use a hands free unit starting July 1st. any thoughts on this?
I personally think it’s a good idea. I've avoided many accidents only to notice the soccer mom on her cell phone as the culprit. Plus it will be a hell of a lot safer for all the motorcycles out there. And for me, I hate being on the cell phone and trying to drive stick… and I like to have my music blasting.

I was trying to avoid the Star Trek ear peice and also hate talking on the phone while driving (damb wife!) But I got one and I am so glad they have enacted this law. You always see the moron with the cell phone.

I think they are doing a crappy job with the notification though. Saw a lame *** commercial about it last night. I could do a better job.

Picture this. You see the guy driving his SUV talking on the cell phone, they pan back and above to show him in the fast lane going slow with all the traffic backed up and going around him. The commentator says "Think your not distracted, maybe thats because your not paying attention, July 1st it becomes law to have hands free if your going to talk on your phone while driving"

Just one example but you see it all the time, not to mention all the other idiots out there

I never fancied those bluetooth things.. Think its easier just to answer the phone.

But yeah, texting while driving is wack and you should definitely be pulled over for that. Talking on the phone isn't too bad, but people just can't multitask anymore...

whats funny is that if you comnpare talking on the phone versus texting, texting is more distracting, you take your eyes off the road, yet they do nothing about texting. You cant have the phone to your ear. thats lame.

the issue with people on the phone when driving is they arent paying attention, it has nothing to do with freeing up hands. it has everything to do with where your attention is.

for my senior project i was going to make a device that gets placed every 3 miles that would kill all cell phone signal. this would prevent people from having long conversations. the professors didnt like the idea. ROFL

I personally have nothing against this law. Hopefully it will prevent a lot of bullshit and help some people concentrate while driving. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen someone with the phone glued to their ear create hazards on the road, I'd have a small fortune by now.

Cool I hate the ear piece...

I hate the ear piece so much I was going to ignore the law. But then I found the Blue tooth Hands Free speaker (t305) that mounts to the visor, and is voice activated. So I bought it, and it is small, and no stupid ear piece.

Yup it's a good thing. Got my Jawbone last month and lovin it - good excuse to get an earpiece. Now I can listen to my girl talk away AND do something productive at the same time... or drive...
