Good news for SoCal Residents!
So the smog guy right next door to me just informed me that due to californias huge debt Ca. State Smog Ref's. have been shut down. Now if you get "REF'ed" you take it to ANY basic smog shop. He said he got a letter and this went into effect 2 days ago.
Good news for any Cal residents not just Socal like the title implies!

It's Tim Donaghy's brother. LOL
I have a feeling that the state will be checking up on the smog shops that are doing the "Reffing". The state will see that people will still have the same stuff they had on when they got ticketed.

Well I just read the memo and checked on http://smogcheck.ca.gov/ Right there in the first paragraph.
Per the Governor's Executive Order issued on July 31, 2008 concerning the state budget, Referee and Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) Repair Assistance, and Vehicle Retirement services have been suspended until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience. Consumers may call the Department of Consumer Affairs, Consumer Information Center at (800) 952-5210. Also, please check our web site periodically to confirm when both Referee and CAP services will resume.
