Sorry to hear about what happened. I'm not sure if you were expecting the air bags to deploy, because they wouldn't from a rear collision. They are controlled by an impact sensor in the front. In your case this is better, because they are expensive to replace/repair.
Unfortunately the car will probably be totaled, mostly due to the quarters buckling from the impact, but I guess you never know until you start going through the process with your insurance co. Not sure how many miles are on it, but a '97 TA with 14X,XXX miles is worth right around mid 6K, private party. So there may be some hope.
And you always have the option of buying the car back with a salvage title and getting it fixed. I know of a few good, cheap shops. If not, then you can step your game up to another car.

Lets see if you can understand this lesson in commonsense. If I didn't read the word TEACHER (its spelled teacher btw, not techer. Ill take a reading class if you take spelling), how could I have asked the question if she was one. Simple question, but for some reason you wanted to be a smart *** about it. ![Rolleyes](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/rolleyes.gif)

But every carrier is different, so you won't know until they talk to you.

Second, great, fast thinking about using your line lock. Great idea!
Third, until I saw the creases in the qurater panel area, I was thinking, not much damage...nice!
Some young kid rear ended me in my old IROC on the freeway. Traffic was moving, then came to a quick stop. I was like "whew" when I stopped in time to avoid the guy in front of me then I heard screeeeeeeaaaach and BAM! I got rear ended by a new jag.
I got out looked at my car, everything was fine. Looked at his car (front was hanging down) and ended up just letting him go. He was sober, and I figure he was in a world of trouble as it was (I'm not a sue happy guy).
I hope everything works out for you, and you have uninsured motorist.
