First off we need some info on the situation. Such as were you sitting in traffic were you racing what? Second, like camarojunky said we need more info on the car. How low was it overheating did you shut it off? Did it just come down what? Were missing a lot of info here before we start pointing our fingers at any parts, for all we know a bag could have got sucked up there and blocked off air.

the engine is a LT1 1994 camaro z28 auto, and yes i was sitting in traffic, but everyday im in traffic and just today it started over heating. Motor came from pheonix arizona, ase certified tech put it in for me... legit work...

it just creeped up to 210 and did not mover farther than that. there is also a little light in the center of the dash that came on yesterday its red and has a water level at the bottom with arrow pointing down.... but i check all the fluids and its fine... the engine only has 50000 miles when i got it... need more info let me know

Could it just have been that it was a hotter day today? More traffic than usual heating up the ground a bit more? 10-15* isn't THAT much. Was it more stop and go than usual? All these could factor together to make that small of a difference. I say take it out and test it out a little and as long as all the fluids are fine I wouldn't worry about it too much. If I recall up to 220 is fine (according to owners manual), so unless your getting over that I wouldn't be too worried just keep an eye on the "gages" and make sure fluid are fine.

On a stock tuned LT1, the fans don't come on till 226*F. Regardless of what thermostat you have, given enough time at idle, your car will hover at around 210* or more. As long as it doesn't go past 230, you should be fine.

Jumps all over the place how much? Like 100 to 200? Or like just a lot between 190-210? Is it hooked into the stock location?

normal operating temp for an lt1 is 210 so dont worry about that you should be fine. the light that you said comes up is the low coolant light. that light is on all the time in my brothers car and hes coolant is fine also. maybe the low coolant sensor is messed up. dont know bout that one tho.

okay, well first lt1's arent known for running cool, we need some more info on the car, what are you running for coolant?

sounds to me like you need to put a known good mechanical gauge on the engine and repeat the driving you did today to see if its indeed running hot, if your having problems with your sunoco kragen electric temp gauge its probably reading wrong, get a nice auto meter mechanical and start monitoring it that way, as jason said if its around 210 give or take you will be fine, if it gets hotter than that you will need to look at things like the coolant your running, possibly a old radiator cap not holding pressure properly, make sure the front air damn is in place, make sure both fans indeed run, if your still creeping up to a high temp you may need to put a mechanical switch on the fans to keep the temp down as long as possible. their is a million different variables.
