Groups of people gather late at night to watch drivers spin their cars in circles, often playing chicken with the crowd. People hang out of the car windows precariously. One particularly dangerous form, called 'ghostriding the whip' has the driver jump out of the car as it's rolling and then jump back in.
Squealing and smoking tires. Loud music. Add drugs and alcohol and you have a deadly and crazed concoction. Neighbors are kept up until the wee hours, held hostage in their homes. Part of the thrill is to play cat and mouse with police officers, a game facilitated by cell phones; participants call each other to arrange where to meet. Although they occur in Oakland, most of the participants come from outside the city.

They have something like that in Compton near 35th and main st.
It is VERY VERY dangerous and looks insane. I had two friends nearly get run over by a pair of dumbfucks racing two mustangs down the street with NO LIGHTS on!!! We literally had to grab them by their shirts and yank them out of the gutter area of the street.
I seen people haning out of the top of convertables, and verts. while the driver did doughnuts at high speed. Stupid to the highest degree if you ask me.

Yea this happens all the time around here, People even do Brake Dips and they Whip they family cars randomly. I just saw that tonight as i went to the grocerie store. Matter fact, a local meeting spot for racers was shut down by PD because an Oakland resident decided to do donuts and in the process, the individual hit a Police Car.

the sideshows USED to be cool in the late 90's....
its too much ghetto'ness now... you can get your car fucked up for just being there.
it USED to be about the burnouts and donuts. etc etc... now its gangs, thugs, punks, etc etc...I haven't attended in quite a few years (although it is interesting to watch online, lol)
